Crackdown on mislabeling of mandarin origins
Violators face up to 7 years in prison or fine up to \100m

Authorities are out trying to ensure that all mandarin oranges being shipped have proper origin labels.

The National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service will be inspecting fruit packing facilities on the island through the end of this month. Inspectors will be looking for fruit from Jeju City that is labeled as being from Seogwipo.

Officials will also be inspecting vehicles transporting mandarins on some of the main arteries linking the two cities, including (평화로) Pyeonghwa-ro and (남조로) Namjo-ro.

Violators will face up to seven years in prison or a fine of up to 100 million won.


농관원, 감귤 원산지 표시 단속

감귤 출하가 본격적으로 시작되면서 감귤 원산지 표시에 대한 단속이 강화됩니다.

국립농산물품질관리원 제주지원은 오는 30일까지 제주시에서 생산된 감귤을
서귀포산으로 속여 출하하는 선과장을 집중 단속하기로 했습니다.

이를위해 제주시와 서귀포시를 오가는 평화로와 남조로 등 주요 도로에 단속원을 상시 배치해 감귤 운반차량을 수시로 살필 계획입니다.

단속에 적발되면 7년 이하의 징역이나 1억 원 이하의 벌금이 부과됩니다.
