Veterans express support for state-issued textbooks
‘Current books have too many anti-state views’

Members of the Jeju branch of the association of Korean veterans who were disabled by agent orange in the Vietnam War have expressed support for the government’s plan to issue history textbooks, saying the current versions contain many anti-state views and need to be immediately taken out of circulation.

The veterans association said Friday that it was important to teach students Korea’s great history. They stressed that now was the time for change in the education sector.

정부의 한국사 교과서 국정화 추진에 대해 고엽제 전우회 제주특별자치도지부는 오늘 오후 제주도의회 도민의 방에서 기자회견을 내고 반국가세력의 잔재가 가득한 역사교과서는 즉각 폐기해야 한다며, 올바른 역사 교육을 위한 정부 정책을 적극 지지한다고 밝혔습니다.

그러면서 이제라도 교육현장에서부터 대한민국의 훌륭한 역사를 일깨우고 가르칠 수 있는 여건을 만들어야 한다고 주장했습니다.
