Governor vows to end illegal distribution of subpar mandarins
‘Practice hurts all local growers’

Jeju Governor Won Heeryong (원희룡) has put his foot down on the illegal distribution of substandard mandarin oranges.

At a Monday policy meeting, Governor Won said it was unacceptable and that illegally shipping and selling fruit that is not cleared for sale hurts all island growers.

He vowed to strengthen local regulations if needed in order to put an end to the practice.

Won also urged government officials and the police to place a priority on ending illegal mandarin distribution.

원희룡 제주특별자치도지사가 비상품 감귤 출하에 대한 단호한 대처를 주문했습니다.

원 지사는 오늘 오전 열린 주간정책회의에서 감귤 제값받기에
모든 노력을 기울이는데도 불구하고 특히 일부 선과장을 중심으로 상습적으로
비상품을 출하하는 행위에 대해 절대 용납할 수 없다고 강조했습니다.

이번에 정비된 원칙과 규정에 따라, 필요하다면 규정을 더 강화하는 한이 있더라도
예외 없이 모두 퇴출한다는 의지와 실행결과를 보여달라고 주문했습니다.

이에 따라 담당부서와 자치경찰단은 여러가지 다른 업무도 많겠지만
우리 민생의 가장 중요한 문제인 만큼 최우선에 비중을 두고 임해달라고 당부했습니다.
