New crackdown on taxi drivers who overcharge
According to proposed legislation, drivers would lose taxi licenses

Taxi drivers who overcharge passengers will likely face stiffer penalties under new legislation proposed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The bill states that drivers found guilty of overcharging more than three times in two years will lose their taxi licenses. Cab companies will also be held accountable and have their licenses revoked.

In Jeju, 16 cases of taxis overcharging were reported in 2014.


택시 부당요금 삼진아웃제 도입

택시 부당요금에 대한 삼진아웃제가 도입됩니다.

국토교통부는 이같은 내용을 골자로 한 택시운송사업 발전 법률 시행령과 시행규칙 개정안을 입법예고했습니다.

주요내용을 보면 택시 부당요금 징수로 2년 내에 3차례 적발될 경우
개인에 대해서는 자격취소를, 회사에 대해서는 면허 취소 처분을 내리게 됩니다.

제주도는 지난해 택시 부당요금 사례로 16건을 적발한 바 있습니다.
