Urban renewal project in Jeju City’s Seomun district

Jeju City is planning a significant urban renewal project in the Seomun district.

Officials say they will finalize a master plan for the (새뜰마을) ‘Sae-ddeul Ma-eul’ project in Yongdam-1-dong (용담1동) by the end of December. Work is slated to begin next year.

Some 1.2 billion won will be spent through 2018 to repair old houses, build public facilities, and hold training sessions for jobseekers.

This renewal projects is a joint effort by the Presidential Committee on Regional Development and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

제주시 서문지구 도시재생사업인 새뜰마을사업이 본격 추진됩니다.

제주시는 오는 12월까지 용담1동 서문지구 새뜰마을사업에 대한
마스터플랜을 수립하고 내년부터 본격적으로 사업을 추진합니다.

이 사업은 2018년까지 12억 4천여 만원이 투입돼 노후된 집 수리와 주민공동이용시설 구축, 주민역량강화 교육 등이 이뤄집니다.

서문지구 새뜰마을사업은 대통령 직속 지역발전위원회와 국토교통부 공모 사업으로 지난 3월 최종 선정됐습니다.
