Jeju ‘Batdam’ Festival begins October 30
Weekend event at Gujwa Sports Complex

The first ever Jeju (밭담) Batdam Festival begins this Friday, in recognition of the island’s unique stone walls, which were inscribed by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System.

The festival will be held for three days at the (구좌) Gujwa Sports Complex in Jeju City.

Organized by the provincial government and hosted by the Jeju Headquarters of the Korea Rural Community Corporation, the slogan of the event is “Batdam: The Spirit of Jeju That Formed Over a Thousand Years.”

A number of activities are planned, including a batdam building, drawing, and photography contests.

There will also be lectures and other educational programs related to the stone walls.

제주밭담축제 30일 개막…체험행사 다채

세계중요농업유산으로 지정된 제주밭담을 축제로 승화한 제주밭담축제가 오는 30일부터 사흘간
제주시 구좌종합운동장 일대에서 열립니다.

제주특별자치도가 주최하고 한국농어촌공사 제주지역본부가 주관하는 이번 축제는 '천년을 쌓아온 제주의 정신, 흑룡만리 제주밭담'을 주제로 다양한 프로그램으로 진행됩니다.

특히 제주밭담장인 경연대회와 소망의 밭담 쌓기, 밭담그림 그리기, 밭담사진 콘테스트 등 밭담과 관련한 다양한 체험행사가 열릴 예정입니다.

또 축제기간에 농어업유산 세미나와 제주밭담교육, 6차산업 교육 등 교육프로그램도 다채롭게 열릴 예정이어서 관심을 모으고 있습니다.
