Foreign investment in accommodations remains slow
Down over 50% in Q1, Q2

There has been no growth in foreign investment in commercial property in Jeju for a period of six months.

Provincial officials say the number of commercial real estate transactions involving non-Koreans was down over 50% in the second quarter of the year, when just 85 deals were made, and the third quarter, when only 88 purchases were finalized.

Chinese investors bought 195 lodging facilities in the first quarter of the year, but that plummeted by 58 percent to just 81 in the third quarter.

Chinese citizens qualify for permanent residency in Jeju if they purchase property worth a certain minimum value, and analysts attribute the sluggish market to the decrease in the number of condos being sold for that purpose.

매년 증가추세를 보이던 외국인 소유 신규 숙박시설 취득건수가
2분기 연속 주춤한 것으로 조사됐습니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면 올해 2분기와 3분기 외국인 숙박시설 취득건수는
각각 85건, 88건으로 연초에 비해 50% 이상 떨어졌습니다.

특히 중국인 소유 숙박시설도 1분기 195건에서 3분기 81건으로 58%나 감소했습니다.

숙박시설 취득건수가 줄어든 것은 부동산 투자이민제 대상 휴양콘도 분양이 다소 부진했기 때문으로 분석됩니다.
