Big changes expected in black cattle industry
National government designates JNU as research center

Insiders say they are looking forward to some systematic improvements to Jeju’s black cattle industry.

National Assembly representative Kim Woo-nam says the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs has designated Jeju National University as a research center to develop the sector.

As much as 20.6 billion won has been set aside for the center through the year 2024. That includes nine billion won in national funding. That money will be used to do such things as develop mass production techniques, improve fertilized egg production, and form a global distribution system.

제주흑우 산업이 체계적으로 육성될 전망입니다.


국회 김우남 의원에 따르면 농림축산식품부는 최근 '축산물 고품질 생산관리 기술개발 연구센터'로 제주대학교를 선정하고 제주흑우산업을 집중 육성합니다.

연구센터는 오는 2024년까지 국비 90억원을 포함한 최대 206억원의 사업비를 투자해 대량증식과 우수 수정란 생산, 가공제품 개발, 글로벌 유통기반 구축 등 제주흑우의 생산에서 유통까지 각종 기술을 개발하게 됩니다.
