EV battery lease plan hits snag
The nation’s first electric vehicle battery leasing plan has hit a snag due to poor demand. Only 5 percent of taxis and 1 percent of rental cars have switched over to electric power, and that’s far fewer than the provincial government had hoped.

A 234-kilometer bicycle path that encircles the island is now open to the public. An opening ceremony for the 35.8-billion won project was held over the weekend in (오조리) Ojo-ri, Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo.

Jeju land prices up 40% in last decade
The Jemin Ilbo is reporting on skyrocketing land prices. Statistics from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport show that the average price of land in Jeju has risen almost 40% in the last decade. The went from roughly 5,800 won per square meter in 2007 to nearly 7,900 won per square meter this year.

Yonhap is reporting that police say their intensive crackdown has cut telephone-based financial scams from 1,200 in March to 284 in October. Over three out of every four victims of the scams were women.

South Korea and China will hold a fresh round of bilateral talks on the delimitation of sea boundaries next month. The issue has been a constant source of diplomatic tension between Seoul and Beijing.
