Education office sets 2016 budget at \827b
2.7% higher than this year

The Jeju Provincial Office of Education has set next year’s budget at 827 billion won and it has submitted the spending plan for consideration by the provincial council.

That’s 2.7 percent, or 21.8 billion won, more than this year.

Superintendent of Education (이석문) Lee Seok-mun explained the budget in a Monday press conference.

He said it did not include financial support for the so-called Nuri Program, which covers childcare for children aged 3 to 5… due to a lack of funds.

However, high school students will benefit from next year’s budget as 690 million won has been allocated for rural high schools. That will give students at them a 50% discount on enrollment and class fees.

道교육청, 새해 예산 8,270억원…누리과정 편성 안해

제주도교육청은 올해보다 2.7%인 218억원이 늘어난 8천270억원 규모의 새해 예산안을 편성해 제주도의회에 제출했습니다.

이석문 제주도교육감은 오늘(9일) 도교육청에서 기자회견을 열고 새해 예산안을 설명하면서 이같이 밝혔습니다.

이번 새해 예산안에 만 3살부터 5살까지 영유아를 대상으로 한 어린이집 보육료 지원 사업인 누리과정 예산은 열악한 지방교육 재정을 이유로 편성하지 않았습니다.

반면 내년부터 읍,면지역 일반고등학교에 대해서는 사업비 6억9천만원을 투입해 학생들의 입학금 전액과 수업료 50%를 지원할 계획입니다.
