Jeju to get second airport

Jeju will be getting a second airport - in the Sinsan-ri and Onpyoung-ri areas of Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo.

The transportation ministry on Tuesday announced the detailed results of a feasibility study on expanding airport infrastructure.

Officials decided to develop a second facility and run it in conjunction with the first, which is operating at maximum capacity.

The government will spend 4.1 trillion won on the new airport, which is scheduled for completion in 2025.

제주도 서귀포시 성산읍 신산리와 온평리에 제2공항이 건설됩니다.

국토교통부는 오늘 오전(10일) 제주도청 탐라홀에서 열린 제주공항인프라 확충 사전타당성 검토용역 최종발표보고회에서

포화상태에 이른 제주공항 인프라 확충을 위해 기존공항을 그대로 운영하면서 제2공항을 건설해 두 개의 공항을 운영하는 방안을 최적의 대안으로 선택했다고 공식 발표했습니다.

서귀포시 성산읍 신산리 일대에 들어서는 제2공항은 독립 활주로 1개가 운영되는 공항으로 공사비 4조 1천억이 투입돼 오는 2025년 완공될 예정입니다.
