36 village pasture commons in Jeju City
2 fewer than last year

According to a new survey, there are two fewer village pasture commons in Jeju City this year, compared to 2014.

The provincial government said Wednesday that it found that there are currently 36 pasture commons in the city. The ones in (선흘2리) Seonheul-2-ri and (종달리) Jongdal-ri are no longer being run.

The total area of land used for the pasture commons is now 3,065 hectares, down 127 hectares from last year. The drop comes as the leasing period for government-owned land came to an end and operating costs increased as the commons became private property.

제주시지역 마을공동목장이 지난해보다 2곳이 줄어든 것으로 조사됐습니다.

제주시는 마을공동목장 운영 실태를 조사한 결과 지난해와 비교해 선흘2리와 종달리 마을공동목장이 사라지면서 36곳이 운영되고 있다고 밝혔습니다.

면적으로는 3천65ha로 지난해보다 127ha 줄었습니다.
이는 국공유지 임대가 끝나면서 더 이상 마을공동목장 운영이
불가능하거나 개인이 임대해 개인목장으로 변경됐기 때문입니다.
