‘Southernmost Yellowtail Festival’ underway
Event continues through Sunday in Moseulpo

The Southernmost Yellowtail Festival is underway at Moseulpo Port in Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo.

The annual festival kicked off Thursday with a commencement ceremony to celebrate the year’s largest catch of yellowtail, which is popularly served raw. Performances began on Friday. Some 40 groups will be performing through Sunday, when the festival draws to a close.

Visitors can also take part in a number of activities, including bare-handed yellowtail fishing, fish auctioning, and free food sampling.

Food stalls and take-out booths for raw yellowtail have also been set up, along with traditional restaurants where visitors can enjoy the best of Jeju’s popular winter fish.


최남단방어축제 개막…15일까지 열려

제주 겨울바다의 대표 횟감인 방어를 소재로 한 최남단방어축제가 오늘(12일) 개막해 나흘 동안 서귀포시 대정읍 모슬포항 일원에서 열립니다.

최남단방어축제위원회가 주관하는 올해 축제는 오늘 풍어제와 개막식을 시작으로 내일(13일)부터는 40여개 팀의 공연이 열릴 예정입니다.

특히 축제의 인기프로그램인 방어 맨손잡기를 비롯해 방어 낚시, 방어 경매, 무료 시식코너 등이 마련돼 관람객들을 맞이합니다.

방어회 포장 판매코너와 전국 특산품 판매장, 향토음식점도 개설돼 다채로운 먹을거리와 즐길거리를 제공하게 됩니다.
