Tourist arrivals hit 12 million
Annual target of 13 million within reach

Tourist arrivals to Jeju in one calendar year have surpassed the 12-million-mark in the shortest period ever.

According to the provincial tourism association, the 36,000 visitors who arrived Monday pushed the 2015 tally to 12 million. The milestone was reached 37 days earlier than in 2014.

The association says the island should easily be able to meet this year’s target of 13 million arrivals because of a higher-than-expected number of domestic travelers, despite the MERS outbreak earlier this year.

제주 방문 관광객수가 최단기간 1천200만 명을 돌파했습니다.

제주특별자치도관광협회는 어제(15일)까지 제주를 방문한 관광객은 1천 198만 명으로
오늘(16일) 3만 6천여 명의 관광객이 입도하며 1천 200만 명을 돌파했다고 밝혔습니다. 이는 지난해 보다 37일 이른 성과입니다.

도관광협회는 메르스 여파에도 불구하고 내국인 관광객이 크게 증가해 올해 목표인 1천300만 명 달성도 무난할 것으로 예상했습니다.
