Real estate speculation probe begins in Seongsan
Officials pouring over transactions made since 2012

The provincial government has kicked off an investigation to determine if any cases of land speculation have occurred at the site chosen for Jeju’s second airport.

To begin with, the officials will focus on screening records for any illegal land transactions made in Seongsan since 2012. It is focusing on 8,300 plots, which cover roughly 17 square kilometers of land in the region. Officials will examine whether owners of farmland actually used the land for farming after acquisition and whether any illegal leasing of the land was carried out. They will also be looking for other potential violations of the Agricultural Land Act.

Finally, the provincial office will look into possible tax evasion through fraudulent contracts and false declaration of land ownership.

또한 부동산 다운 계약 등 허위 신고를 통한 탈세 여부도 조사할 계획입니다.
