Fate of Yerae Resort Complex amendment unclear
Not among the 105 bills National Assembly began reviewing Tuesday

It has become unclear whether the National Assembly will pass a revised bill on Seogwipo’s Yerae Resort Complex.

The Public Administration and Security Committee’s review subcommittee began screening 105 bills on Tuesday… but the proposed revision of the Jeju Special Law was reportedly not included.

The review process will continue through Thursday, but due to the controversial nature of the Jeju Special Law revision... disputed by both Jeju residents and lawmakers alike… it remains unclear whether the proposed amendment will receive the green light at this session of the National Assembly.

The revision proposes to shift decision-making rights regarding Jeju’s recreational areas from the national government to the provincial government. Construction of the Yerae Resort Complex will likely remain stalled if the bill is not passed.

'예래휴양단지 특별법' 국회 심의 불투명

서귀포시 예래휴양단지와 관련한 제주특별법 개정안의 국회 심의가 불투명해졌습니다.

국회 안전행정위원회 법안심사소위원회는 오늘 오전부터 회의를 열어 회부된 안건 가운데 105건에 대해 심사를 벌이고 있지만 제주특별법 개정안은 포함되지 않았습니다.

법안심사소위원회는 모레(26일)까지 예정돼 있지만 제주특별법 개정안은 제주지역에서 찬반논란이 큰데다 여야 의원들간에도 의견차이가 있어 이번 회기에 다뤄지지 않을 것이란 예상도 나오고 있습니다.

제주특별법 개정안은 유원지 시설의 결정과 설치기준을 도 조례로 정할 수 있도록 하는 내용을 담고 있으며 국회에서 처리되지 않으면 예래동 휴양단지의 공사는 사실상 어려울 것으로 예상되고 있습니다.
