Feasibility study of creating ‘AirCity’ around new airport
Province plans to spend \150m on research

The provincial government will conduct a feasibility study on the creation of a so-called “AirCity” around the site chosen for Jeju’s second airport.

Officials say they have set aside 150 million won to outsource the study and that they have submitted that budget proposal to the provincial council.

If passed, the province will consult experts to examine the area’s development potential and related legal issues. If the construction of an “AirCity” is deemed feasible, detailed planning will begin in 2017, with work expected to be underway by 2018.

제주특별자치도가 제주 제2공항 주변 에어시티 조성을 위한 타당성 연구 용역을 추진합니다.

제주도는 관련 용역 예산으로 1억 5천만 원을 편성하고 제주도의회에 제출했습니다.

예산이 통과되면 향후 용역 추진과정에서 제2공항 에어시티 조성 규모와 개발 잠재력, 법률 문제 등을 검토할 계획입니다.

제주도는 에어시티 조성이 타당하다고 결론 나면 2017년 기본계획을 수립하고 2018년쯤 사업을 추진할 계획입니다.
