Orchid exports to Japan begin
200,000 to be shipped for \800m

Overseas shipments have begun of locally-grown orchids.

The first batch of this year’s harvest was shipped to Japan last week. Representatives from Jeju Agricultural Research & Extension Services say 200,000 cymbidium orchids will be exported through May.

They were grown on seven farms in Seogwipo. Japanese buyers are paying around 800 million won for the colorful and fragrant blooms, which is significantly more than the 700 million they paid last year.

양란 일본 수출 시작…내년 5월까지 20만 본

올해 제주산 양란의 일본 수출이 시작됐습니다.

제주도농업기술원은 지난 24일 올해산 양란을 첫 선적한데 이어 내년 5월까지 20만 본을 일본으로 수출한다고 밝혔습니다.

이번 양란 수출은 서귀포 심비디움 수출작목반에 소속된 7개 농가가 참여하며 8억원의 매출 실적이 예상됩니다.

지난해의 경우 양란 심비디움 전량을 일본으로 수출해 7억원 정도의 매출을 올렸습니다.
