Jeju golf courses to receive 75% tax break through 2017
Local golfers will only pay \3,000 in taxes

Golf courses in Jeju are breathing a sigh of relief as the national assembly has decided to allow tax breaks at the clubs through 2017.

According to lawmakers (강창일) Kang Chang-il and (김우남) Kim Woo-nam, both the main and opposition parties agreed to pass a bill on reducing the individual consumption tax by 75 percent at golf courses in Jeju over that period.

That means once the bill is formally passed at the national assembly, golfers in Jeju will only be charged 3,000 won for that tax. Elsewhere in the nation the fee stands at 12,000 won.

법안이 통과되면 골프장 입장객 1명당 부과되는 개별소비세는 전국적으로 1만 2천원인데 반해 제주도는 2017년까지 3천원이 부과됩니다.

이처럼 75% 감면수준에서 제주도 골프장 개별소비세 문제가 일단락됨에 따라 최악의 상황은 피할 수 있게 됐습니다.
