Zoning mulled for mid-slope and coastal areas
New development regulations may be implemented next year

The provincial government is considering labeling different zones in the mid-slope area to distinguish between developable locations and areas that need to be preserved.

The plan would be to categorize mountainous regions between 200 to 600 meters above sea level… into three zones: a preservation zone, a middle zone, and a usable zone. Permits would be required for development in the middle zone.

A similar zoning system has also been proposed for coastal areas. The land between the coastline and coastal roads would be designated a greenbelt where development is restricted and, depending on the distance from the coastline, coastal areas would be categorized into preservation, managed, and usable zones.

Details of the zoning system are slated to be finalized by mid-December for possible implementation next year.

중산간 개발 등급제 도입…해안 그린벨트 지정 검토

제주특별자치도가 중산간 지역을 이용과 보전으로 구분해 관리하는 등급제 도입을 검토합니다.

제주도 경관관리계획 재정비 용역에 따르면 중산간 해발 200에서 600미터 구간을 보전영역과 중간영역 이용영역으로 구분하고, 중간영역에 대해서는 개발 허가제를 도입하는 방안이 제시됐습니다.

아울러 해안지역은 해안선에서 해안도로까지 일부 개발행위를 제한하는 그린벨트를 지정하고 해안선으로부터 거리에 따라 보전과 관리, 이용해안으로 구분하도록 했습니다.

제주도는 오는 15일까지 관련 용역을 마무리 한뒤 내년 경관관리 재정비 수립 계획에
반영할 계획입니다.
