Council passes \56b proposal to expand Jeju ICC operations
Funding will be split evenly between tax refunds, tourism promotion

The provincial council’s public administration committee has passed a bill to inject 56 billion won into expanding business at the Jeju International Convention Center.

28 billion won will go into providing tax refunds for tourists to Jeju and another 28 billion will be used as tourism promotion funding.

Earlier this month, the council had placed the bill on hold due to a lack of consensus among Jeju residents and a lack of detailed plans.

제주국제컨벤션센터 공유재산관리계획안이 상임위원회를 통과했습니다.

제주도의회 행정자치위원회는 오늘(9일) 오늘 오전 회의를 열고 제주도가 제출한 제주컨벤션센터 자본금 출자 공유재산관리계획안을 원안 가결했습니다.

이에 따라 제주도는 제주컨벤션센터 다목적 복합시설 확충을 위해 제주여행객 부가가치세 환급제 대체 사업비 280억과 제주관광진흥기금 280억 원 등 560억 원을 출자하는 것이 가능해졌습니다.

한편 제주도의회 행정자치위원회는 지난 1일 열린 회의에서 도민 공감대 부족과 구체적 계획 미흡 등을 이유로 해당 안건을 의결 보류했습니다.
