Inspection into technical glitch at Jeju International Airport
Problem caused temporary halt to control tower operations on Saturday

Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a technical glitch that temporarily froze operations at Jeju International Airport’s control tower on Saturday.

A joint task force, including representatives from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Airports Corporation, replaced the parts that stopped functioning and are now trying to determine the cause of their failure.

The task force will soon expand its investigation to include the Israeli company that manufactured the parts in question.

통신장애 제주공항 장비 교체…원인 조사 계속

그제(12일) 발생한 제주공항의 관제 마비사태와 관련해 관제탑과 접근관제소의 통신장비 결함 원인을 밝히기 위한 조사가 계속되고 있습니다.

국토교통부와 한국공항공사 등으로 구성된 합동대책반은 문제를 일으켰던 통신 주장비 부품을 새 것으로 교체하고, 장비 업무를 담당한 공항공사 제주지역본부 직원 2명을 상대로 정확한 사고경위를 조사하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.

특히 대책반은 조만간 해당 장비를 제조한 이스라엘 업체와 함께
문제가 됐던 부품에 대한 조사도 진행할 예정입니다.
