Crackdown on illegal electioneering begins
General election scheduled for April 13

The Jeju District Prosecutors’ Office has begun a crackdown on illegal electioneering ahead of the April 13th general election.

Representatives from the prosecutors, police, and election commission met Tuesday. Each party pledged to cooperate in exercising strict control over illegal actions regarding the upcoming election.

Among other forms of illegal campaigning, officials said they would focus special attention on weeding out bribery and the use of false propaganda.

The prosecution said it will also run a 24-hour call center for people to report election illegalities.

제주지방검찰청이 내년 4.13 총선을 앞두고 본격적인 선거사범 단속체제에 들어갔습니다.

검찰은 이를 위해 경찰과 선관위 등 유관기관과 공안대책협 지역의회를 열고 선거사범 단속활동에 협조체계를 강화하기로 했습니다.

특히 금품선거와 흑색선전, 불법선전사범을 중점 단속대상으로 정하고 지속적인 집중 단속 실시할 계획입니다.

검찰은 이와함께 비상근무체제를 본격 가동하는 한편 24시간 선거사범 신고센터를 운영하는 등 비상근무체계를 유지합니다.
