New office to prevent illegal real estate transactions
Provincial office has 5 staff members

The provincial government has started running a new office tasked with preventing illegal real estate transactions.

Led by the head of Jeju’s Civil Service Office, the Real Estate Speculation Countermeasures Headquarters has a staff of five, who deal separately with construction and land issues. Complaint centers are also up and running at every community service center across the island.

Public officials will first focus on Gujwa-eup, near the site for Jeju’s second airport. Through February, if anyone is found to have made illegal real estate deals in that area, they will be fined and reported to the National Tax Service.

False or exaggerated advertisements and illegal real estate brokerage activities will also be penalized.

제주시가 투기성 불법 부동산 거래 차단을 위한 부동산투기대책본부를 설치하고 본격 운영에 들어갔습니다.

대책본부는 제주시 종합민원실장을 반장으로 건축과 토지관련 부서 등 5명으로 구성됐으며 읍면동에는 부동산 거래 신고센터가 설치됐습니다.

대책본부는 특히 내년 2월까지 제2공항 예정지 인근 구좌읍 지역의 토지거래와 고가에 거래되는 아파트 가격 등에 대해 신고내용을 조사해 위반사항이 확인되면 과태료 부과처분과 함께 국세청에 통보할 계획입니다.

이와함께 허위 과장 광고 등 불법 부동산 중개행위에 대해서는 행정처분을 강화할 방침입니다.
