There’s a new radio broadcasting system on the island - Jeju Salle. It was set up by Namwon-eup residents, and it focuses on improving the daily lives of those living in rural communities. Joseph Kim has more.

This is a radio studio in an office of the Seogwipo Rural Migration cooperative. Wearing a set of headphones, residents are sharing stories with listeners in the village.

Program hosts are busy playing song requests and engineers are actively controlling sound quality outside the studio booth.
The village radio broadcasting system created by the Namwon-eup residents has kicked off with their first show.

Along with the responsibilities of hosting, production duties are all managed by the villagers themselves.

Since the show is made by local residents, it covers topics like how to farm, stories of raising kids, anecdotes from grandmothers and interviews of the villagers.
