Annual visitor tally at Udo hits 2 million for first time
Total up 32% compared to last year

For the first time ever, over two million people have visited Udo, the small island off Jeju, in one year.

The provincial government said Tuesday that the tally as of December 20th was two million three thousand. That’s 32 percent, or 520,000 people, more than at the same time last year.

Earnings from admissions fees increased 38 percent to over 2.2 billion won.

The island of Udo was designated a provincial marine park in 2008.

우도 탐방객 사상 첫 200만 돌파

섬속의 섬 우도를 찾은 탐방객이 사상 처음 200만 명을 넘어섰습니다.

제주시에 따르면 올들어 지난 20일까지 우도해양도립공원을 찾은 탐방객은 200만 3천여 명으로 지난해 같은 기간보다 52만명, 32% 증가했습니다.

이에 따른 입장료 수입도 22억8천여 만원으로 지난해 보다 38% 증가했습니다.

우도가 지난 2008년 해양도립공원으로 지정된 이후 탐방객 200만 명을 돌파하기는 이번이 처음입니다.
