More visiting Hallasan Mountain
More non-Koreans exploring its slopes

More visitors are putting Hallasan Mountain on their list of must-see Jeju sites, and the number of non-Korean climbers is also on the rise.

Government statistics show that 1.2 million people have visited Hallasan Mountain this year. That’s 8.2 percent more than the corresponding figure from 2014.

In particular, there was an 11.8 percent increase in the number of non-Koreans heading up the mountain, for a total of 211,000 visitors this year.

By trail, Seongpanak was the most popular with 440,000 hikers, Eorimok had 390,000 and the Yeongsil course had 300,000.


한라산 탐방객 증가세…외국인도 늘어

한라산 국립공원을 찾는 이용객이 꾸준히 늘어나는 가운데
외국인 관광객의 증가세가 눈에 띄고 있습니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면 올들어 지금까지 한라산을 찾은 이용객은
121만 9천 여명으로 지난해 같은기간에 비해 8.2% 증가했습니다.

특히 외국인의 경우 21만 1천 여명으로 지난해보다 11.8% 늘어
올들어 제주를 찾은 외국인이 줄었다는 점을 감안하면 이례적입니다.

탐방로 별로 보면성판악 코스가 44만 명으로 가장 많고
다음이 어리목 39만 명, 영실 30만 명 등입니다.
