Jeju International Airport users surpass 26 million
Second busiest airport in nation

For the first time since records were kept, more than 26 million people in one year have used Jeju International Airport.

That was the tally as of Monday. The Jeju branch of the Korea Airports Corporation says that’s 12 percent more than last year’s total of 23 million.

That makes the local facility the second busiest in the nation, trailing only Incheon International.

The number of Jeju flights increased by 1,300 this year to roughly 150,000.

The airports corporation says the number of passengers passing through Jeju International has been increasingly steadily by about ten percent per year. It projects the annual total to hit 30 million within the next two to three years.

올해 제주공항 이용객이 사상 처음으로 2천 600만 명을 넘어섰습니다.

한국공항공사 제주지역본부에 따르면 올들어 오늘(28일)까지 제주공항 이용객은 2천600여만 명으로 지난해 2천 300만 명보다 12퍼센트 증가했습니다.

이는 인천국제공항을 제외한 지역 공항 가운데 가장 높은 것 입니다.

항공편수도 15만 편으로 지난해보다 1천300여 편 늘었습니다.

한국공항공사는 제주공항 이용객이 해마다 연 평균 10퍼센트씩
늘어나고 있는 추세여서 2~3년 이내 3천만 명을 넘어설 것으로 전망했습니다.
