Fishing boats to carry tourists from this year
Proper safety equipment a mandatory requirement

In 2016, fishing boats will be allowed to carry tourists as passengers and be used for leisure and tourism purposes.

The Jeju provincial government announced Thursday it would permit fishing boats with specified safety equipment to conduct business in the tourism industry.

Meanwhile, the province said it decided to unify the various names used to refer to Jeju’s women sea divers. They will officially be known as haenyeo. It will also abolish the expiration date system which required haenyeo to renew their licenses every three years.

5. 내년부터 낚시어선 관광객 운송 허용

내년부터 낚시어선을 이용한 해양레저관광객 운송이
가능해집니다.

제주특별자치도는 내년부터 스크류 안전 금속망 같은 조례에서 정한 안전시설을 갖춘 낚시어선은
관광객 운송을 허용할 계획입니다.

또 잠수어업인과 해녀 등으로 혼용돼던 행정 명칭도 해녀로 통일되고
3년마다 발급 갱신해야 하는 해녀증 유효기간도
폐지됩니다.
