Natl. government to extend purchase period for Jeju beansprouts
\7.3b in state funds being used to buy 1,751 tons

The national government has announced it will extend the period for state purchases of Jeju beansprouts.

According to chairman Kim Woo-nam of the National Assembly’s Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock and Food Committee… the government had planned to buy Jeju beansprouts until the end of 2015, before it pushed that ending date back by about a month to January 29th.

The move followed an earlier extension from the end of November to the end of December… on the back of poor weather conditions that hampered harvesting.

The government plans to use some 7.3 billion won in state funds to buy 1,751 tons of Jeju beansprouts.

콩에 대한 정부수매 기간이 지난해 말에서 오는 29일까지로 1달 가량 연장됐습니다.
애초 제주산 콩 수매기간은 지난해 11월말 이였지만, 계속되는 비날씨 탓에 수확을 하지 못해 1차로 12월말로 연장됐고, 이번 조치로 오는 29일까지 2차 연장된 것입니다.
한편 정부는 국비 73억원을 투입해 제주산 콩나물 콩 1천751톤을 수매할 방침입니다.
