Size standards set for radishes, carrots
Violators will be fined

Radishes and carrots must now meet size standards in order to be distributed to the market.

The provincial government said Tuesday it began implementing the new standards at the beginning of the year for cleaned radishes and carrots.

Radishes must weigh between 1 and 2.2 kilograms after being washed in order to be cleared for market sales. Carrots have to weigh between 70 and 700 grams. Distribution of below-standard radishes and carrots will be punished with a fine of up to 5 million won.

무·당근 '상품 규격제' 도입…비상품 단속

월동채소 가운데 처음으로 무와 당근에 대해 상품 규격제가 도입됩니다.

제주특별자치도는 세척 과정을 거친 월동무와 당근의 상품 출하기준을 정한
제주도 세척농산물 생산 유통 조례를 올해부터 처음으로 시행합니다.

이에따라 세척무는 무게가 1kg에서 2.2kg 이하만 세척당근은 70g에서 700g 이하만 상품으로
출하할 수 있습니다. 비상품 월동무와 비상품 당근을 도외로 유통하면
최대 5백만 원의 과태료가 부과됩니다.
