More and more people are choosing to cremate the bodies of their long-deceased loved ones, which had already been buried. But as land prices go up on the island, many of them leave the gravesites as-is until they receive compensation for the land.

Jeju District Court ruled that the head of the (김녕) Gimnyeong Agricultural Cooperative, (김기홍) Kim Gi-hong, must pay a fine of 2.5 million won for illegal campaigning in the lead-up to last year’s election. That fine means the election result is nullified. The results of three other votes have also been cancelled.

Yonhap is reporting that North Korea announced Wednesday it had succeeded in conducting a hydrogen bomb test, hours after what seemed to have been an artificial earthquake was detected close to the North's nuclear test site.

A South Korean military official said Wednesday that North Korea conducted another ejection test of a submarine-launched ballistic missile last month. The official says the test was apparently unsuccessful.
