Cultural heritage center to be built at Suwolbong Peak
\9b center slated for completion by end of June

A cultural heritage center will be built at Suwolbong Peak in Gosan-ri, Hangyeong-myeon to shed light on the area’s prehistoric remains and volcanic deposits.

Nine billion won will be used to build the 135-square-meter, two-floor structure. Work is scheduled for completion within the first half of this year.

An octagonal observation deck will be built on the second floor, giving the public a good vantage point from which to view the area.

The plan to build the center faced a number of hurdles in the past, but it was finally approved of by the Cultural Heritage Administration in November.

고산 수월봉에 문화재 정보센터 건립 추진

한경면 고산리 수월봉 정상에 고산리 선사유적과 수월봉 화산쇄설층 등 인근 역사.지질 정보를 제공하는 문화재 정보센터가 설립니다.

제주시는 고산 수월봉에 사업비 9억원을 들여 연면적 135 제곱미터, 2층 규모의 문화재 정보센터를 올 상반기 안에 완료할 계획이라고 밝혔습니다.

특히 2층에는 팔각정자 형태의 전망대를 설치해 도민과 관광객들에게 개방할 계획입니다.

이 사업은 여러차례 우여곡절 끝에 지난해 11월 문화재청으로부터 현상변경 허가를 받는 등 행정절차가 마무리됐습니다.
