Four more schools to get ‘meditation forests’ this year
Province earmarks \60m for each institution

Four more schools will be getting so-called “meditation forests” this year.

The province announced Wednesday that it had chosen Hamdeok High School, Jeju High School, Namwon Middle School and Jungmun Elementary School for its project. Each institution will be granted 60 million won to build the forests.

Sixteen schools have become recipients of Jeju’s meditation forest program, which aims to create small forests around schools to give students the opportunity to experience nature at close proximity.

제주시 함덕고등학교 등 4개 학교가 올해 명상숲 조성학교에 선정됐습니다.

제주특별자치도는 제주시 함덕고등학교와 제주고등학교, 서귀포시 남원중학교와 중문초등학교를 명상숲 조성학교로 선정해 각 학교별로 6천만 원을 지원합니다.

명상숲은 학교 주변에 숲을 조성함으로써 학생들에게 자연체험 학습기회를 제공하는 사업으로 지금까지 16개 학교에서 추진됐습니다.
