Province outlines plan to stabilize crop prices
Leftover winter vegetables, mandarins to be discarded

The province says it will do what is necessary to balance supply and demand of what is left of Jeju’s winter produce, including mandarin oranges and winter vegetables.

According to the provincial government, 319,000 tons of outdoor-grown mandarin oranges have been disposed of so far this year, down 13 percent from a year earlier.

The province plans to discard a further 44,000 tons that is unfit for sale, and, by the end of January, work with the private sector and the Jeju Provincial Development Corporation to dispose of around 20,000 tons of processed mandarins.

As for other underpriced produce, such as cabbages, radishes, and broccoli, the provincial government says it will dispose of some of these also, in order to help raise prices.

Finally, the province has announced it will extend the payback date for agricultural loans and reduce interest rates to help struggling farmers.

道, 감귤·월동채소 수급안정 후속대책 추진

제주특별자치도가 처리난을 겪고 있는 감귤과 월동채소 수급 안정을 위한 후속대책을 추진합니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면 올해 노지감귤 출하량은 31만 9천 톤으로 지난해 같은 기간보다 13% 감소했습니다.

제주도는 잦은 비날씨로 상품성이 떨어진 감귤 4만 4천여 톤을 전량 시장 격리하고
이달 말까지 제주도개발공사를 비롯해 민간 업체들과 가공용 감귤 2만 톤을 전량 처리할 계획입니다.

또 제값을 받지 못하고 있는 양배추와 무, 브로콜리 등 월동작물들은 시장격리를 통해 가격 지지를 유도할 방침입니다.

아울러 비와 이상고온으로 피해를 본 농가에는 영농자금 상환연기와 이자감면 등의 혜택을 제공할 계획입니다.
