JNU Hospital, Halla Hospital ‘top in stomach cancer treatment’
First time assessments have been made public

Jeju National University Hospital and Cheju Halla General Hospital have received the a class one rating for stomach cancer treatment.

The Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service conducted an evaluation of medical staff, diagnosis accuracy, and surgical precision at 201 hospitals that conduct stomach cancer surgeries nationwide. For Jeju, JNU Hospital and Halla Hospital rated first class.

This is the first time the results of such an evaluation have been made public.

In Korea, stomach cancer is the second-most common cancer after thyroid cancer.

제주대·한라병원, 위암 적정성 평가 1등급

제주대학교병원과 한라병원이 위암 적정성 평가에서 1등급을 받았습니다.

건강보험심사평가원에 따르면 위암 수술을 실시한 전국 201개 의료기관을 대상으로 전문인력 구성 여부와 진단, 수술의 정확성 등을 평가한 결과제주에서는 제주대병원과 한라병원이 1등급 의료기관으로 평가됐습니다.

위암치료 적정성 평가 결과가 공개된 것은 이번이 처음입니다.

한편 위암은 갑상선암을 제외하면 우리나라에서 가장 발병률이 높은 암입니다.
