No campaign-related media events from Thursday

New campaigning restrictions go into effect later this week.

According to the Jeju branch of the National Election Commission, candidates will be banned from taking part in media activities that advertise their candidacy. The restriction goes into effect Thursday, January 14th, which is exactly 90 days ahead of the April 13th legislative election.

Candidates will no longer be able to attend book publishing events or make appearances on commercials via TV, newsprint, or magazines.

Also, candidates who currently work as public officials or with the media must resign from their posts before January 14th.

제주특별자치도선거관리위원회에 따르면 선거일을 90일 앞둔 오는 14일부터
정당 또는 후보자의 명의를 나타내는
저술이나 연극, 영화을 통한 광고가 금지됩니다.

따라서 선거에 출마하는 이는 출판기념회를 개최할 수 없고
방송이나 신문, 잡지 광고에 출연할 수 없게 됩니다.

또 공무원이나 정부투자기관, 지방공사, 지방공단의 상근임원,
공직선거관리규칙에서 정한 언론인 등이
선거에 출마하고자 할 경우 14일까지 사직해야 합니다.
