Online tax filing service goes live
National Tax Service says filing will be ‘simplified’ this year

Authorities say they’ve made it easier this year to file their tax returns online.

The National Tax Service launched a new online service Friday, which allows users to claim 13 types of tax deductions, including insurance fees, medical costs, and education expenses.

Paper receipts, however, will still be required for categories not listed online, such as donations and the costs incurred to buy glasses or school uniforms.

The criteria for deductions has also been expanded to include the support of dependents who earn five million won or less per year, rather than the previous 3.3 million won. Anyone who spent more than 50 percent of their total credit card spending in the second half of 2015 also qualify for further tax breaks.

국세청 연말정산 간소화서비스가 오늘(15일)부터 시작됐습니다.

국세청은 오늘부터 연말정산 간소화 서비스를 통해 보험료과 의료비, 교육비 등 13개 항목의 소득, 세액공제 증명자료를 제공하고 있습니다.

다만 기부금과 안경, 교복 구입비 등 일부 제공되지 않는 항목은 따로 영수증을 준비해야 합니다. 이번 연말정산은 인적공제를 받을 부양가족 소득이
기존 333만 원 이하에서 500만 원으로 완화되고, 지난해 하반기 카드 사용액이 연간 사용액의 50%보다 많을 경우 추가 공제를 받을 수 있습니다.
