Navy, Marine Corps to buy Jeju mandarins amid sales slump
Services will give fruit to personnel as holiday gifts

In a bid to help Jeju mandarin farms, which have been suffering from poor sales and falling prices, the Navy and Marine Corps have decided to purchase a large portion of the fruit ahead of the Lunar New Year holidays.

The Navy and Marine Corps announced they would purchase and distribute Jeju mandarins to all of their military personnel as holiday gifts.

The Navy initially signed a contract to buy 80 tons of the fruit through the end of next month, but it has added another 8.2 tons to the total.

해군과 해병대가 감귤 가격 하락과 소비 감소로 어려움을 겪고 있는 감귤재배 농가 돕기에 동참하기로 했습니다.

해군과 해병대는 제주지역 감귤 농가를 돕기 위해 모든 부대가 설 연휴 각 부대 장병 격려용과 선물용 등으로 제주 감귤을 적극 구매하기로 했습니다.

특히 해군은 장병 단체급식용으로 다음달까지 감귤 80톤에 대한 구매계약을 체결한데 이어 8.2톤을 추가 구매하기로 했습니다. 해군의 제주감귤 구매 운동은 다음달 말까지 계속될 예정입니다.
