Province temporarily lifts restrictions on cab service

Now that flight service has been restored at the airport, all taxis are being mobilized to transport the tens of thousands of travelers who have yet to board their flights.

The province announced Monday that it had temporarily lifted its quota on taxi operation... and 43 private taxi companies also agreed to operate its taxis after midnight to help transport those that were bound to board emergency flights in the early hours of the day.

Some 5,300 taxis are currently operated in Jeju under a system which requires drivers to leave their vehicles at home once a week based on the last digit of their license plate.

한파와 폭설에 따른 관광객과 체류객들의 수송을 위해 택시부제가 전면 해제됩니다.

제주특별자치도는 제주공항의 항공기 운항이 재개됨에 따라
오늘 오후 2시부터 상황이 종료될 때까지 개인택시와 법인택시의 부제를 전면 해제하기로 했습니다. 특히 항공기 심야 운항에 대비해 도내 43개의 콜텍시 단체와 협조체계를 유지해 차량부족으로 인한 불편을 줄이기로 했습니다.

현재 제주도내 택시는 5천 300여대에 이르고 있으며
7부제를 시행하고 있습니다.
