Airport operations back to normal

The tens of thousands of travelers who were temporarily stranded on the island by the weekend storm have all returned home and operations at Jeju International Airport are back to normal.

The Jeju branch of the Korea Airports Corporation said it stopped operating overnight flights early Wednesday after it completed transporting all passengers who had been stranded here, some since Saturday. Flights resumed Monday. Around-the-clock emergency flights were operated to deal with the backlog.

679 flights either took off or landed at the airport in one 24-hour-period after operations resumed, and that’s a new daily record for the airport.

한파 체류객 수송 마무리…제주공항 정상화

지난 주말 이례적인 한파와 폭설에 따른 제주공항 폐쇄로 발이 묶였던
체류객 수송이 마무리됐습니다.

한국공항공사 제주지역본부는 어제(26일) 아침 6시부터 오늘 아침 6시까지
항공편 590편이 운항해 5만 9천여명을 수송했다고 밝혔습니다.

특히 체류객 수송이 거의 마무리되면서
심야운항도 오늘 새벽 1시 20분 테웨이항공 1편에 그쳤습니다.

한편 제주국제공항 개항 이후 어제 하루 24시간 운항되면서
출도착 679편이 운항하는 등 일단위 사상 최다 운항 기록을 세울 전망입니다.
