Jeju land prices rise at fastest pace nationwide
Up 7.6% in 2015; national average: 2.4%

The national government says land prices in Jeju rose at the fastest pace in the country last year.

While the national average stood at 2.4 percent in 2015, land prices here rose by more than triple that: 7.6 percent. The report by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport also showed that within Jeju, last year’s growth in land prices was more than double the 3.7 percent from a year earlier. By region, prices in Seogwipo rose 7.9 percent, while the figure was 7.3 percent in Jeju City.

Experts say the rise was mostly due to the island’s population influx, high demand for housing, development of the so-called “innovation city” in Seogwipo, and the announcement that a second airport will be built in Jeju.

제주 땅값 상승 '전국 최고'

지난해 전국을 통틀어 제주지역의 땅값이 가장 많이 오른 것으로 나타났습니다.

국토교통부가 발표한 전국 지가변동률 분석에 따르면,
지난해 전국 땅값이 전년도 보다 2.4% 오른 가운데,
제주는 3배가 넘는 7.6%나 올랐습니다.

이 같은 상승률은 전년도의 3.7%보다도 두배나 높은 것입니다.

특히 서귀포시는 7.9%로 전국에서 지가 상승률이 가장 높았고
제주시가 7.3%로 뒤를 이었습니다.

이 같은 추세는 지속적인 인구 유입으로 인한 주택 수요와
혁신도시 개발, 제2공항 발표 등에 따른 것으로 분석되고 있습니다.
