Jeju population tops 640,000
660,000 expected by year’s end

More than 640,000 people live in Jeju, and officials expect the tally by the end of the year to surpass 660,000.

The provincial government said Monday that the population at the end of 2015 was 641,355. That’s over 19,000 people more than a year earlier.

That upward trend is what officials cite when they project the total to surpass 660,000 by year’s end.

제주인구 64만 돌파…연말 66만 명 예상

제주지역 인구가 지난해 말 64만 명을 돌파한 가운데
연말에는 66만 명을 넘을 것으로 보입니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면 지난해 말 제주지역 인구수는
64만 1천 355명으로 2014년보다 1만 9천여명이 증가했습니다.

최근 해마다 2만 명 가까이 인구가 늘어나는 점을 감안할 때 올 연말에는 인구 66만 명을 돌파할 것으로 예상됩니다.
