Early distribution of natural disaster relief funding
Farmers who lost the most will be compensated before holidays

Farmers that suffered most from heavy snow and strong winds last month will receive disaster relief funding ahead of schedule.

Provincial officials say that, according to regulations, the money would normally be distributed after on-site investigations and recovery efforts ended, which would be around February 22nd. For those hardest-hit by by last month’s storm, however, the province will hand out funding before the Lunar New Year holidays.

Farmers are eligible to receive up to 90 percent of the damage incurred.

The heavy snow and winds damaged more than 1,000 farms in Jeju, causing an estimated 5.5 billion won in damage.

지난달 폭설과 강풍 피해를 입은 농어가에 대한 재난지원금이 조기에 지급됩니다.

제주특별자치도는 재난피해 조사와 복구계획 지침상 오는 22일 이후에야 재난지원금을 지원해야 하지만 설을 앞두고 있는 만큼 일부 시설물에 대해 명절 이전에 조기에 지원할 계획입니다.

지원 규모는 농어가 당 복구금액의 최대 90% 까지입니다.

지금까지 접수된 폭설과 강풍피해는 비닐하우스 파손과 축산.양식시설 피해, 농작물 피해 등 1천 20여 건으로 피해액은 55억 원에 이르고 있습니다.
