The ruggedness of Jeju’s nature is often seen as one of the island’s greatest charms. A special photo exhibition is currently underway showcasing just that: the rugged beauty of the island. The exhibition is especially significant in that it’s a collaboration between a major domestic company and an up-and-coming Jeju photographer. Suejin Choi reports. Warm, blue hues fill the air and surround an entire village. All it still and tranquil as if it were the break of dawn. Far in the distance is the untouched natural beauty that is Jejigi (제지기) Oreum.

[slug] ‘Resonance of Emotion’ Through March 31, Kakao Gallery Space.1
The pictures on display here... are works by photographer Kim Hyung-seok. It’s a special photo exhibition now underway at a gallery located within Jeju Science Park.
Interview Kim Hyungseok / Photographer My focus has always been on emotions. I held three previous exhibitions on different aspects of emotions: texture, temperature and sound. This time it’s all about the resonance of emotions.
Emotions can move people. Emotions can change the way we think or behave. These are the thoughts that lie behind this exhibition, titled ‘Resonance of Emotions’.
Kim moved to Jeju in 2010 after being emotionally touched himself by the natural beauties of the island.
Interview Kim Hyungseok / Photographer I had lost touch with my emotions after living in the city for so long. But here, I could feel them coming back to life. I wanted to capture those emotions with my camera.

This exhibition is a collaboration between Kim and a major corporation located in Jeju. The company has announced that it plans to continue providing an outlet for up-and-coming talents this year, in line with its vision to explore the power of culture.
Interview Kim Ah-young / Kakao Future Support Team This is where you can ‘meet’ Kakao. We plan to use this space to introduce up-and-coming talents in Jeju throughout the year.
