Rural prepaid garbage bag use up 15.9%
Overall sales for Jeju total \5.8b in 2015

More people in rural areas are making use of prepaid garbage bags, according to a report by the provincial government.

The latest figures show that in 2015 Jeju’s aggregate sales of prepaid garbage bags was close to five-point-eight billion won, up 9 percent from a year earlier.

The increase was highest for rural districts at 15.9 percent -- indicating that more people outside urban areas are also taking part in the nation’s effort to change the culture of waste disposal here.

읍면 지역에서도 쓰레기종량제 봉투를 이용한 배출 문화가
자리잡는 것으로 나타났습니다.

제주시에 따르면 지난해 쓰레기 종량제 봉투 판매수입은
57억9천만원으로, 전년보다 9% 가량 늘었습니다.

특히 읍면지역 쓰레기봉투 판매가 전년과 비교해 15.9%나 늘면서
읍면지역에서도 올바른 쓰레기 배출문화가 정착되는 것으로
평가됐습니다.
