Over 180 delegates to attend Jeju Fire Festival
Performers from the US, Japan, China to take part

Some 180 delegates from 15 cities -- both in Korea and from overseas -- will be visiting Jeju next month for the annual Jeju Fire Festival.

From Jeju’s US sister city of Santa Rosa, Mayor John Sawyer will be leading a delegation of American university students and jazz musicians attending at this year’s festival. Performers from other cities around the world, including Japan and China, will also take part in the event next month.

Eleven cities within Korea will also send their respective delegations to the Jeju Fire Festival, including those from Suwon in Gyeonggi Province and the Seoul district of Seodaemun.

A special delegation will also be sent to Jeju from the town of Makarov (ma-ka-rof) on the Russian island of Sakhalin (sak-uh-leen) to discuss an exchange of traditional folk music and dance between the two cities.

다음달 3일 개막하는 제주들불축제에
15개 국내외 교류도시에서 180여명의 방문단이 제주를 찾습니다.

제주시에 따르면 올해로 교류 20주년을 맞는 미국 샌타로사시에서는
'죤 소여'시장 내외와 대학생 째즈공연단이 방문하고,
일본과 중국 등 7개 도시에서도 축하 사절단과 예술공연단이
축제장을 찾습니다.

또 국내 자매교류도시인 경기도 수원시와 서대문구 등 11개 도시에서
축하 사절단을 파견해 교류 도시간의 우의를 다지게 됩니다.

또 제주특별자치도와 국제우호도시 관계인 러시아 사할린주에 속한
'마카로프시' 사절단이 방문해 민속 공연 상호 교류 등을 논의하게됩니다.
