Nation’s first tree planting event of 2016 on Monday
1,000+ Korean Dendropanax planted in Seogwipo

Korea’s first official tree planting event of the year was held here in Jeju on Monday.

Over 1,000 Korean Dendropanax were planted near (색달동) Saekdal-dong in Seogwipo in the morning. Korea Forest Service Minister (신원섭) Shin Won-seop, Jeju Governor Won Heeryong (원희룡), and some 500 local residents were on-hand for the event.

Officials distributed blueberries and prickly-ash trees to the participants as part of the festivities.

올해 첫 나무심기 행사 15일 제주 개최

제주특별자치도가 올해 전국 지자체 가운데 처음으로
나무심기 행사를 마련합니다.

제주도는 오는 15일 오전, 서귀포시 색달동 인근에서
신원섭 산림청장과 원희룡 제주특별자치도지사, 지역 주민 등
500여 명이 참석한 가운데 향토 자생수종인 황칠나무 1천여 그루를 심을 계획입니다.

나무 심기 행사 일환으로
참가자들에게 블루베리와 초피나무 1천 8백여 그루를
무료로 나눠줘는 캠페인도 열릴 예정입니다.
