Police investigating 12 for illegal campaigning
Crackdown on election violations to continue through April 20

With less than two months to go until the April 13th legislative elections, police are working around the clock to root out election violations.

The provincial police agency said Wednesday it is currently investigating 12 people on nine illegal campaigning charges. They include four suspected cases of bribery, two of pre-electioneering, and one of spreading false rumors.

Police say some of the 12 people currently under investigation are likely to be released without charge due to a lack of evidence.

The police agency will continue its crackdown on election-related violations through April 20th.

4.13총선이 2달도 채남지 않은 가운데
선거사범을 단속하기 위한 경찰의 수사가 이뤄지고 있습니다.

제주지방경찰청은 이번 4.13 총선과 관련해 선거법 위반 혐의로
모두 9건에 12명을 조사하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
유형별로는 금품향응 제공이 4명으로 가장 많았고,
사전선거운동과 인쇄물 배부가 각각 2명, 후보 비방 1명, 기타 3명입니다.

다만, 경찰은 이들 가운데 별다른 혐의점을 발견하지 못해
수사를 종결할 대상도 있다고 밝히며 오는 4월20일까지 수사상황실을 통해
각종 첩보수집과 단속활동을 강화한다는 계획입니다.
