Conservative groups want 53 names removed from list of official victims

A fact-finding investigation into some of the victims of the Jeju April 3rd incident is likely to be postponed.

The Ministry of the Interior has reportedly accepted Jeju’s request not to rush the investigation, in light of opposition from local residents.

Conservative groups have requested that the government re-evaluate and remove... the names of 53 people currently on the list of official victims of the incident. Experts say the investigation will likely be postponed until after the April 13th general elections.

They also say these developments have made it unlikely that the president will attend this year’s April 3rd memorial ceremony.

제주도가 사실조사를 서두르지 말자는 요청을 수용하는 쪽으로 결정한 것으로 알려졌습니다.

이에따라 총선 전까지는 보수단체가 요구한 4.3희생자 53명에 대한
사실조사가 이뤄지지 않을 전망입니다.

한편 재심사가 보류되면서 이번 4.3 추념식때 박근혜 대통령의
제주 방문 가능성도 낮아졌습니다.
